What is the abortion pill?

The abortion pill is actually two pills: Mifepristone and Misoprostol.

Taken first, Mifepristone (which used to be called RU-486), works by blocking production of the hormone progesterone, stopping the pregnancy from continuing. Lastly, you take Misoprostol, which causes your uterus to contract in order to expel the pregnancy. Cramping and bleeding may be severe.

How much does the abortion pill cost?

The abortion pill costs about $300 – $1,000 depending on where you live.
